Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of the various forms and documents used for the issue, receipt, and storage of materials.
  • Operates gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles, both light and heavy, on and off post to transport equipment and supplies.
  • Operates a forklift as required.
  • Observes time schedules and traffic/driving regulations.
  • Assists with loading and unloading cargo and materials.
  • Drives in a variety of driving situations such as congested highways, metropolitan areas, narrow country or mountain roads, and steep winding grades.
  • Provides assistance and support to the staff in maintaining and upkeeping of the facility, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and minor repairs of vehicles and equipment, including routine tasks (e.g., oil changes).

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Health and immunizations required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Drug test is required; this position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to random drug testing.
  • Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must upload with application.

Qualifications

  • Experience and training that equip the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
  • Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools, equipment, and applicable vehicles based on gross weight (32,000 pounds).
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply instructions and other materials related to the job.
  • Ability to perform the work of the position under normal supervision.
  • Skill in operating vehicles over a variety of roads and assessing traffic conditions and hazards.
  • Knowledge and skill in basic vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Skill in using judgment to load and unload individuals or cargo/supplies, including clearances, turning radius, safe braking distances, and connecting/disconnecting air brakes and electrical lines.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety regulations to determine when mechanical or operational problems indicate that vehicles are unsafe for operation.
