Motor Vehicle Operator Hourly (South Beach ATC)

Duties

  • May drive a variety of motor vehicles both on and off State property in order to transport people, material and equipment as required, and plow snow from roadways and parking lots.
  • May map routes, itineraries, and points of call.
  • Move or carry cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle operated.
  • Move or carry cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point.
  • Post manifests, inventories and other records of goods and people transported.
  • Tend to the routine maintenance of vehicles operated in order to ensure that cargo is moved as required.
  • Change oil and spark plugs.
  • Change tires and wash vehicles.
  • Pump gas and add water to radiator, oil to crankcase and air to the tires.
  • Replace lamp bulbs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Operate and maintain motorized equipment in support of maintenance, grounds or building trades crews.

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a New York State Driver’s License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
  • Candidates may be required to possess a CDL Class A, B, C or General Class D license.

Qualifications

South Beach ATC is a Tobacco-Free Facility.

  • Background Investigation Requirements:
  • Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC) that includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).
