Motor Vehicle Operator, HOURLY (Blaisdell ATC)

Duties

May drive a variety of motor vehicles both on and off State property in order to transport people, material and equipment as required, and plow snow from roadways and parking lots.

May map routes, itineraries and points of call.

Move or carry cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle operated.

Move or carry cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point.

Post manifests, inventories and other records of goods and people transported.

Tend to the routine maintenance of vehicles operated in order to ensure that cargo is moved as required.

  • Change oil and spark plugs.
  • Change tires and wash vehicles.
  • Pump gas and add water to radiator, oil to crankcase and air to the tires.
  • Replace lamp bulbs.

Requirements

May operate and maintain motorized equipment in support of maintenance, grounds or building trades crews.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a New York State Driver’s License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates may be required to possess a CDL Class A, B, C or General Class D license.

Additional Comments

Background Investigation Requirements:

  • Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL).
  • Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC).
  • Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).
