Motor Vehicle Operator
About the role
The DOHMH Bureau of Facilities Planning and Administrative Services provides a myriad of key critical services, including, but not limited to, coordination of physical movement of supplies and critical materials, between and among DOHMH programs and facilities; and the administration of salvage operations for durable goods no longer needed, and deemed excess, by DOHMH.
Responsibilities
- Operates motor vehicles such as passenger cars, vans, and light trucks.
- May drive a passenger van carrying employees and material to/from work locations.
- Acts as a chauffeur to an Agency official.
- Responsible for tools, supplies, materials, and equipment carried in or on the assigned vehicle.
- Aids in loading and unloading of materials, equipment, and passengers.
- Checks tires, oil, and fuel levels of the vehicles, replenishes fluids as needed, and checks the vehicle to ensure lights, horn, and brakes appear to be operating properly.
- Reports any noticeable mechanical defects in the vehicle.
- Changes tires or wheels.
- Prepares Trip Reports, or enters trip data in computerized applications, as required.
Requirements
There are no formal education or experience requirements. Driver License Requirement: By the time you are appointed to this position, you must have a motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. If you have moving violations, license suspension(s), or an accident record, you may be disqualified. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
