Mortgage Loan Originator
About the Role
We are looking for a sales-oriented mortgage professional to provide outstanding customer service in our mortgage lending division. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will collect and analyze the customer’s financial profile, and acting as a trusted advisor, identify an appropriate mortgage product, as well as other products and services, to meet their financial needs.
You will investigate and develop opportunities to attract new customers, actively cultivating relationships with referral partners, such as realtors, builders, bank colleagues, attorneys, former clients, CPAs, and others within your sphere of influence.
Responsibilities
- Originate 1-4 single-family residential loans within predetermined guidelines and rates set by the Bank and its investors.
- Analyze borrowers' income, assets, and liabilities to identify appropriate mortgage programs and pre-qualify them for financing.
- Follow up with applicants to secure necessary information for processing, underwriting, and closing loans.
- Consistently achieve volume and/or unit production targets and cross-sell bank products where applicable.
- Maintain a positive attitude, act with integrity, and deliver "best-in-class" customer service.
- Stay updated on industry knowledge and comply with state and federal laws, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Collaborate with the mortgage team, including lenders and operations staff, as well as other business lines such as retail, commercial, and wealth advisory teams.
- Represent German American in the community through involvement in service, civic organizations, and community events.
Requirements
- NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration (or willingness and ability to obtain).
- 1+ years’ experience in real estate, mortgage, or sales equivalent.
Skills
- Entrepreneurial and business development/sales skills.
- Needs analysis, including evaluating customer income, debts, and financial profiles.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Conventional, VA, USDA, FHA, FNMA, and Portfolio underwriting guidelines.
- Understanding of mortgage compliance regulations and business acumen related to bank mortgage products, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
Bilingual/multilingual abilities are a plus.
