Mortgage Loan Originator

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to discuss their loan needs and financial goals
• Collect and analyze financial information to determine eligibility for loans
• Aid clients in completing loan applications and gathering required documentation
• Evaluate loan applications, including credit history, income verification, and collateral assessment
• Collaborate with underwriters to ensure timely loan approval and closing
• Provide exceptional customer service throughout the loan process
• Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and compliance requirements, including TILA and FNMA guidelines
• Maintain accurate records of loan applications, approvals, and denials

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a licensed Loan Officer
• In-depth knowledge of loan origination and processing procedures
• Familiarity with accounting software and mortgage servicing systems
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess creditworthiness and financial risk
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask effectively
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Qualifications

• Proven experience in loan origination or mortgage officer roles within the financial services or banking sectors
• Strong background in financial sales, negotiation, and customer service with a focus on ethical practices aligned with Fair Housing regulations
• Proficiency in mortgage software such as Quicken or similar platforms; familiarity with FNMA guidelines is highly preferred
• Knowledge of underwriting processes, credit analysis, escrow procedures, and basic math skills including 10 key typing proficiency
• Experience working with loan processing systems, accounting software, and banking operations related to mortgage transactions
• Ability to interpret contracts, legal documents related to TILA disclosures, and mortgage servicing agreements accurately
• Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments
