About the role
SWBC is seeking a talented individual to interpret and track all variable compensation agreements. This role executes calculations and payment for all variable compensation employees on a bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and creates and posts all variable compensation journal entries.
Responsibilities
- Understands and applies accounting literature to ensure that all recorded payroll transactions are consistent with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Prepares various reconciliations of commission and payroll reports and agrees to the general ledger. Discrepancies are researched and resolved.
- Executes the calculations and submissions of all commissions, bonuses, and other payroll incentives for Mortgage.
- Creates and posts month-end accruals for commissions, bonuses, and overrides for all mortgage branches.
- Reconciles the commission’s payable account to include researching differences and making appropriate corrections.
- Creates and posts all variable compensation payroll journal entries.
- Creates and distributes all statements and production reports for distribution to Mortgage employees prior to payroll distribution.
- Documents, tracks, and compares all executed compensation agreements and creates financial profiles in accounting software.
- Assists Accounting team with Vendor set-up requests.
- Accesses database to match the commissions to loan revenue in order to record the expense in the same month as the revenue.
- Updates draw schedules and notifies Mortgage Corp personnel if loan officer's payback of draw falls behind.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting reconciliation, journal entry preparation, commissions, or related experience required.
- Experience with AMB preferred.
- Knowledge of Workday.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Access.
