About the role

Reporting to the Director of Husky Assist, the Mobile Crisis Responder responds to urgent behavioral health needs across the UW Seattle campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors—including youth and children under 18 who are on campus for a UW‑sanctioned purpose. While encounters may involve unhoused individuals, UW employs other resources for crisis calls involving unhoused persons on the Seattle campus. Husky Assist may operate alone or as a co‑response with UW Police, depending on the request. The role requires close coordination with UW Police and comfort working alongside law enforcement on response activities. Husky Assist, launched within the last year, is still being refined; ideal candidates need a flexible, collaborative mindset, capacity for innovation, and willingness to embrace change and process improvement as the program grows to serve an expansive and diverse campus. Mobile Crisis Responders work on‑site within the UW Seattle campus footprint, with rare telework assignments at the Director’s discretion. The standard schedule is 11 am–8:30 pm on non‑holiday weekdays, working every Tuesday and Thursday and every other Monday or Friday for a total of three 9‑hour shifts per week (week 1: Mon/Tues/Thurs; week 2: Tues/Thurs/Fri), with opportunities to pick up additional shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Response and Intervention (60%)
    • Provide direct crisis intervention, stabilization, and resource referral to campus members of all ages presenting with behavioral health concerns or in an active state of crisis, adhering to UW
