Description
The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. Primary Duties
- Respond across Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson County as part of a 2-person team, providing mobile crisis interventions to a variety of individuals in crisis. (Must be able to respond on site within one hour)
- Engaging individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis by building rapport, assessing motivation, and encouraging participation in services.
- Using a Strengths Based perspective to assess individuals' circumstances to identify needs and/or determine resource eligibility.
- Initiate de-escalation procedures when appropriate, consistent with MANDT and Mental Health First Aid procedures.
- Maintain effective and cooperative working relationship with TGC staff as well as referral sources and community partners through accurate, timely, and professional communication.
- Adapt to changing work priorities and a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
- Maintain confidentiality of medical records in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Comply with TGC’s Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, rules, regulations, and standards of conduct relating to the Corporate Compliance Policy.
- Report any suspected violations of the Corporate Compliance Policy to the Corporate Compliance Officer or the Executive Director.
- Abide by the Personnel Policies and Practices of TGC, including ethical standards, as adopted by the Governing Board, and to represent the Center positively to the community.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or TGC management staff.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or human service field preferred.
- Equivalent work experience in the human services field, or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education, with one year of experience substituting for one year of education, may be considered.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- PREFERRED: Two or more years of crisis experience in a professional setting
