Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
- Research, negotiate, and acquire land agreements for oil and gas exploration, production and development.
- Determine various land ownership interests, including mineral ownership and locations of such owners.
- Negotiate terms within the parameters set by the client.
- Draft contracts to satisfy client requirements.
- Prepare daily activity reports and special landman reports for complex negotiations, damage settlements, and title curative instruments.
- Perform internal and external due diligence to ensure accuracy and completeness of land rights or identify deficiencies requiring remedial action.
- Serve as a liaison with landowners on ownership, rights, damage claims, and access issues.
- Use established company and client policies, procedures, and processes to perform work.
- Maintain up-to-date status with Project Manager or client to ensure assignments are completed according to client procedures.
Job Requirements
- At least three (3) years of related professional sales/business experience or a degree in Energy Land Management.
- Good understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, procedures, terminology, and real property acquisition policies and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of various land-related contracts and agreements.
- Proficient in utilizing MS Office products and databases, performing online research, and reading and understanding maps.
- Able to plan and organize workload, adjust to changing priorities, and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Able to work independently, plan and adhere to a schedule, and report progress timely.
- Ethical and honest in dealings with landowners, clients, and the company.
- Proficient in understanding conveyance of real property.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and customer-focused.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with others.
- Exercise good judgment and handle confidential information responsibly.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A member in good standing with the American Association of Professional Landmen (“AAPL”).
- Able to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Able to pay close attention to details, manage time effectively, and adapt to new responsibilities.
- Able to maintain regular attendance and work an adjusted schedule based on project needs.
- Able to comply with applicable laws and regulations and company policies and procedures.
Work Environmental and Physical Demands
- Spend 40% of the time in a remote office environment and 60% traveling in the field.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
