Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Milling Operator to operate asphalt milling machines on various projects. The role requires setting up, operating, and maintaining milling equipment while ensuring accurate surface removal and preparation for paving.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate milling machines to remove asphalt pavement to specified depth, grade, and slope
- Set up equipment, including drum selection, grade controls, and conveyor adjustments
- Perform pre-shift inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment is in safe working condition
- Cookordinate with ground crew and foreman for efficient material removal and loading
- Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, traffic, and utilities to prevent incidents
- Assist with machine cleaning and minor repairs as needed
- Complete daily equipment logs and inspection reports
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE
- Assist with other site tasks when equipment is not in operation
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- 2+ years of experience operating milling machines or other heavy equipment
- At least 18 years of age
- Familiarity with grade control systems and milling machine adjustments
- Solid mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the crew
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
- Ability to travel regionally or nationally when projects are outside the local area
