Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Milling Operator to operate asphalt milling machines on various projects. The role requires setting up, operating, and maintaining milling equipment to prepare surfaces accurately for paving.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate milling machines to remove asphalt pavement to specified depth, grade, and slope
- Set up equipment, including drum selection, grade controls, and conveyor adjustments
- Perform pre-shift inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment is in safe working condition
- Cook with ground crew and foreman for efficient material removal and loading
- Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, traffic, and utilities to prevent incidents
- Assist with machine cleaning and minor repairs as needed
- Complete daily equipment logs and inspection reports
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE
- Aid with other site tasks when equipment is not in operation
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
- 2+ years of experience operating milling machines or other heavy equipment
- At least 18 years of age
- Familiarity with grade control systems and milling machine adjustments
- Solid mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the crew
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
- Ability to travel regionally or nationally when projects require
