Role Summary
About the role
The Barnes Aerospace CRO Site in East Granby, Connecticut, is seeking a CNC Milling Machinist & Trainer for a 6+ month assignment.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC/manual machining equipment while maintaining quality and efficiency standards
- Train, mentor, and support new machinists as needed, including demonstrating proper setup, operation, and safety procedures
- Balance production responsibilities with training duties to ensure both output and workforce development goals are met
- Perform complex set-ups, edits, and operate established and NPI jobs with minimal supervision ensuring parts conform to specifications and requirements. Make modifications or adjustments as necessary
- Verify dimensions using standard measuring instruments, such as micrometers, depth gage, height gage, and vernier
- Read and interpret blueprints and operations sheets
- Work with engineering department regarding material conditions, best positioning of part, tool pressure, etc. as required
- Detect faulty operations and materials and report these along with other problems to immediate supervisor
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- 3+ years of experience in machining in an aerospace or manufacturing environment
- Prior experience training, mentoring, or supporting new machinists strongly preferred
- 3+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC Devlieg Milling Machines
- Demonstrated ability- or strong interest- in training, mentoring, or supporting other machinists
- Familiar with Fanuc controls; willing to cross train on various operations/equipment
- Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of GD&T
- Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Willing to learn basic CNC Programming
