Milling Setup Operator

About the role

Join EXALTA Group and help manufacture high-precision components used in the medical device industry. We are seeking an experienced Milling Setup Operator who enjoys working in a fast-paced machining environment and takes pride in producing quality parts with precision and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce parts to print specifications
  • Perform tooling changes, offsets, machine adjustments, and basic program edits
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers
  • Work with standard and metric measurements and tight tolerances
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
  • Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring equipment
  • Read and interpret CMM reports to verify part quality
  • Complete setup sheets, first-piece inspections, ERP transactions, and production documentation
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve processes
  • Meet established safety, quality, and production goals

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of CNC milling setup experience
  • Experience in a job shop environment preferred
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Solid understanding and application of GD&T
  • Experience working with both standard and metric measurements
  • Working knowledge of G-code programming and editing
  • Experience using Renishaw probes to locate X, Y, and Z coordinates and establish part zeros
  • Proficiency with precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and CMMs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in an ISO 13485 and/or FDA-regulated manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility
  • Exposure to machinery, coolants, lubricants, and moving mechanical parts
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and repetitive motion
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours per shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
