About the Role
Direct the personnel and activities of a project management unit, including development, definition, and implementation of work processes and financial management tools. Oversee project management processes and tools to manage projects, control costs, ensure schedule adherence, prioritize resources, and forecast budgets. Ensure focus and attainment of business goals and objectives while fostering a high-performance, diverse, and productive environment. Champion corrective action processes, continuous learning, and safe work behaviors.
Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple projects and programs. Lead project teams through the business case and capital approval process, project plan development and execution, and project closeout. Position may require extended hours during storms or energy delivery emergencies.
Responsibilities
- Manage the budget of an assigned portfolio of work, balancing cost control with service level needs. (20%)
- Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high-performance culture and learning organization. Promote diversity and serve as a change agent for business initiatives. (20%)
- Provide leadership and development to direct reports, including performance feedback, planning, and growth opportunities. (20%)
- Interface with other Exelon departments and represent the company to external business units regarding managed projects and supporting tools. (10%)
- Facilitate open and honest communication across the organization, integrating upward communication and assessing effectiveness. (10%)
- Manage large, complex, and unique projects or programs, ensuring delivery on schedule and at or below budget. (20%)
Implement and manage a project portfolio/program with annual expenditures of approximately $100–$150 million to meet commitments to state and local governments, regulatory agencies, and external customers. Oversee performance of multiple project teams through assigned project managers, with direct supervision of 4–6 employees and indirect management of several hundred contract personnel. Interact with all levels of Exelon leadership, contractor management, and front-line employees.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field and 7–10 years of relevant project management experience. In lieu of a degree, 9–12 years of relevant experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or ability to achieve it within two years of hire.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing large, complex projects using project management techniques, including:
- Planning and control (work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, scope control)
- Issue and risk management (identification, assessment, contingency planning)
- Project management tools (planning, scheduling, resource balancing, cost monitoring)
- Business case development (cost/benefit evaluations, net present value analysis)
- Progress reporting (cost/schedule curves, status reports, earned value analysis)
- Proven leadership in a high-performance culture with the ability to build consensus, communicate effectively, and hold teams accountable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements, including technology and performance improvements.
- Strong business acumen, customer awareness, and ability to create value in a matrixed organization.
- Valid driver’s license and access to an automobile.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering or business administration (MBA).
- PMP certification.
- Experience or knowledge in utility design, planning, construction, or information technology.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
- Utility industry experience in design, planning, or construction.
- Strong financial skills in budgeting, cost forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Pay
Annual salary range: $124,800–$171,600, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Eligible positions include an annual bonus of up to 20%.
