Mgr II, Maintenance

About the Role

The Maintenance Manager schedules materials and machine downtime to maintain production equipment availability and performance, at satisfactory levels through the planning, coordination, and reporting of repair activities.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the plant
• Ensures that the maintenance team supports both preventative and predictive maintenance programs through analysis, planning, and productivity
• Ensures Reliability and Planning addresses reactive/unplanned maintenance through rapid response and supports continuous improvements through documentation, analysis, and feedback to derive corrective action
• Participates in the preparation and administration of the facility maintenance budget; submits recommendations, monitors expenditures, prepares cost estimates, helps submit justification for equipment, and assists in the development of support documentation for projects
• Manages expenditures consistent with budget and business plan; supports development of budget and business plan annually
• Manages all maintenance systems, including equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and maintenance records
• Develops, recommends, implements, and executes procedures for maintenance to create a process-driven continuous improvement culture
• Ensures activities comply with plant, company, state, and federal policies and guidelines related to employee safety and work execution
• Develops relationships with outside vendors and contractors to assist in the successful completion of machine outages and planned maintenance
• Demonstrates managerial leadership within maintenance, resulting in efficient and effective utilization of human resources
• Develops salaried department employees through effective communication, training, and supervisory skills
• Resolves work problems and suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve goals in a team-based environment
• Maintains and manages department efficiencies, department costs, and develops ways to minimize mechanical machine downtime
• Handles personnel issues, schedules department work, vacation schedules, and employee reviews
• Reviews reports and works on department efficiency improvements
• Collaborates with other departments to increase overall efficiencies

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods
