MFT Parent Partner

About the role

MiFamily Together (MFT) Parent Partners are individuals with experience in child protective services or foster care who provide supportive services to families.

Responsibilities

• Work with parents to promote engagement in case activities via weekly contacts.
• Support families by attending meetings and facilitating group sessions.
• Provide coaching and advocacy to help families build protective factors.
• Collaborate with the MFT team to support families and provide services.
• Complete required documentation and attend training as needed.
• Attend Family Team Meetings, court hearings, and other events with parents.
• Facilitate monthly support group meetings for caregivers.
• Transport adults or children with parent(s) present using personal vehicle, as needed.

Requirements

• A previously opened CPS or foster care case with successful case closure.
• A stable family situation without current CPS substantiation for safety issues.
• No confirmed child abuse reports during the role of Parent Partner.
• Flexibility to attend meetings and facilitate groups including non-standard work hours.
• Participation in mandated training(s), supervision, and team meetings.
• A willingness to share parenting experiences as a learning tool.
• Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and personal auto insurance.
• A flexible schedule based on client needs.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and/or families (minimum 1 year preferred).
• Education: None required.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to build rapport and trust with families.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of clients.
• Knowledge of child welfare systems and processes.
