Primary Job Function: The Manufacturing Training Specialist is a member of the Human Resources team responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering, and documenting training programs for manufacturing employees. Although this position works closely with Production, it reports directly to Human Resources to ensure consistency in training, employee development, compliance, and workforce readiness. This role serves as the subject matter expert for production training by maintaining a thorough understanding of each manufacturing position, standardized work instructions, quality requirements, safety expectations, and operational procedures. The Manufacturing Training Specialist is responsible for conducting hands-on job instruction, evaluating competency, identifying skill gaps, and supporting continuous employee development across all manufacturing departments. Key Areas of Responsibility: Employee Training on Handoff Conduct new hire orientation in relation to manufacturing operations. Deliver structured, hands-on training for manufacturing positions.Train employees in standard work instructions, operating procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements. Ensure all new employees receive consistent and standardized job instruction.Monitor employee progress throughout the training period and provide coaching as needed. Evaluate employee competency prior to independent job assignment. Departmental Training Develop and maintain working knowledge of every production position within the facility.Cross-train employees across multiple departments based on operational needs.Partner with department supervisors to understand staffing requirements and production expectations. Observe manufacturing processes and recommend training improvements.Assist departments during new product launches, equipment changes, and process updates by updating training materials accordingly. Training Administration Maintain accurate employee training records within the HRIS or Learning Management System (LMS).Track training completion, certifications, qualifications, and retraining requirements.Maintain training matrices for all departments.Prepare reports regarding training completion, effectiveness, and workforce readiness. Employee Development Assist Human Resources with career development initiatives and succession planning.Support leadership development and cross-functional training initiatives.Provide refresher training when performance concerns or quality issues are identified. Collaboration Partner with Production, Quality, Engineering, Safety, and Maintenance to ensure training reflects current manufacturing processes.Participate in process improvement initiatives impacting employee training.Assist Human Resources with workforce planning by identifying training needs based on turnover, promotions, and staffing requirements. Minimum Requirements: Associate’s degree in HR, Business, Manufacturing Technology, Education, or related field preferred. High school diploma or GED required. Three (3) or more years of manufacturing experience. Previous experience training employees in a manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with automotive manufacturing and IATF standards preferred. Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and quality management systems. Experience using Microsoft Office and HRIS/LMS software preferred.
