Responsibilities
- Observe and record patient information pertinent to the treatment plan
- Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
- Assist with the patient discharge process
- Maintain direct patient observation
- Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
- Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs and help patients perform ADLs
- Act as first responder to a variety of patient situations (e.g., codes, behavioral outbursts, attempts to introduce contraband, and medical issues)
- Adjust therapeutic approach to acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent (preferred)
- Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state (preferred)
- Current BLS certification (required)
- Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards (required)
Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit (preferred)
