Mental Health Technician (MHT) - FT Nights | Voyages Conroe

Responsibilities

• Observing and recording patient information pertinent to the treatment plan.
• Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols.
• Aid in the patient discharge process.
• Maintain direct patient observation.
• Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups.
• Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs and helping patients perform ADLs.
• Respond to a variety of patient situations such as codes, behavioral outbursts, attempts to introduce contraband, and medical issues.
• Adjust therapeutic approach based on acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state where the hospital resides.
• Current BLS certification.
• Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required.
• A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit preferred.
