Responsibilities

• Observe and record patient information pertinent to the treatment plan
• Welcome new patients through specific admission protocols
• Assist with the patient discharge process
• Maintain direct patient observation
• Lead patient education, community, goal, and activity groups
• Assist nursing staff by taking vital signs and help patients perform ADLs
• Act as first responder to a variety of patient situations (e.g., codes, behavioral outbursts, attempts to introduce contraband, and medical issues)
• Adjust therapeutic approach to acuity, age, gender, and cultural considerations
• Accomplish duties in a manner consistent with the policies, procedures, and guidelines of Voyages Behavioral Health

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent (preferred)
• Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA) where required by state (preferred)
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Crisis management certification per hospital policy and standards (required)

Qualifications

None required. A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in an acute hospital, rehabilitation hospital, or skilled nursing unit is preferred.
