Medium Voltage Cable Termination Technician - Senior

Shermco Industries is seeking a skilled technician to perform terminations, repairs, and maintenance on medium/high voltage electrical distribution systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform terminations and repairs on medium/high voltage (5 kV and up) cabling in collection systems, data centers, and permanent facilities.
• Splice medium voltage lines and install additional power feeds to temporary and permanent facilities.
• Make land connections on transformers, junction boxes, switchgear, switches, and related equipment.
• De-energize lines or equipment by opening high-voltage switches, test for voltage, and apply grounding devices for safety.
• Assist with installation and maintenance of transformers, capacitors, insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, circuit breakers, and other high-voltage accessories.
• Locate and identify failed cables for repair.
• Work on or near "hot lines" using appropriate safety equipment when necessary.
• Adhere to OSHA, National, and Site-specific safety practices and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Site Management.

Qualifications

• Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, or Apprentice Electrician certification is a plus but not required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electrical Technology, or equivalent military experience.
• Certifications from major manufacturers (3M, Richards, Hubbell) for terminations.
• Familiarity with testing equipment: Megger (Insulation tester), Hi-Pot, VLF, Thumper, and TDR.
• Experience testing transformers, switchgear, and circuit breakers.
• Field experience in industrial power and control systems.
• Understanding of electrical schematics and controls.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to assist in other technical disciplines.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• Willingness to work hands-on in the field alongside engineers and technicians.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; comfortable interacting with customers and coworkers.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
• Must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam when required.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. without employer-sponsored visa.

Pay

USD $45.00 - USD $70.00 per year.
