Job Requirements
Under the supervision of Manager, assists in clerical/registration support functions, maintains departmental records and files, prepares documents and correspondence, organizes inventory of office supplies and forms, and designs forms, graphs, etc. Assists with chart documentation, patient scheduling, pre-registration, registration and insurance verifications and obtaining insurance referrals, as needed, for appointments. Interacts with adult patients. Acts as a liaison between registration areas and other areas. Assists physician or clinical staff with all facets of preparing for patient visits or processing post visit documentation. Assures completion of Consent to Treat, HIPAA and other forms as appropriate. Responds to telephone inquiries from patients, physician offices and payers in an accurate and courteous manner. Schedules/confirms appointments, explains any pre-visit instructions/paperwork. Ensures appropriate patient information, imaging, labs, and testing are obtained for consultations. Coordinates care with ancillary team members, including but not limited to, Nurse Navigators, Multi-D team, Infusion Center and main hospital. Establishes and maintains a good rapport with patients, families, visitors and referral sources, internal and external contractors; monitors patients in waiting area to ensure maximal comfort and safety. Schedules appointment times taking into account patient/staff availability, reserved time, and other scheduling factors (resource availability). Notify the team members of any scheduling conflicts. Mails communication to patients and referral sources including but not limited to appointment letters, referral forms, pre-visit assessments, etc. Performs pre-registration & registration functions accurately and efficiently to reduce errors for billing, medical records, and other subsystems that use this data. Takes responsibility for making corrections to accounts when appropriate. Obtains, completes and follows up on all necessary paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains Center medical records and files, scans documentation into patient records. Completes medical records requests as appropriate. Accurately completes patient check-in/out; confirms accuracy of insurance monthly. Monitors supply inventory in the area and orders front office supplies. Assists with tracking patients who have not kept appointments by calling patients and rescheduling as appropriate. Request insurance referrals as needed. Ensures insurance information, referrals and patient demographics are completed and updated. Refers patients to appropriate resources to discuss financial questions/obligation.
Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- 2 -3 years of experience in a medical office or related setting with computer experience; general knowledge of medical terminology; prior experience with insurance verification and scheduling required.
- EMR experience preferred.

- Pay Range: $18.57 - $25.99/hr. (depends on years of experience)
