Medical Scheduler

About the role

We are seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Medical Scheduler to support a busy healthcare call center and medical practice environment. This role is ideal for individuals with prior healthcare, medical scheduling, patient services, medical receptionist, pharmacy technician, or healthcare customer service experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments
• Cook up provider schedules and appointment availability
• Manage referrals and appointment requests
• Aid patients with navigating healthcare services
• Handle approximately 60–100 inbound calls per day
• Respond to patient questions and concerns professionally
• Route patient requests to the appropriate provider or department
• Support prescription refill requests and referral inquiries
• Maintain a positive patient experience during every interaction
• Aid with patient registration and demographic updates
• Verify patient information and insurance details
• Support billing and insurance-related inquiries
• Aid with account management and payment-related questions
• Maintain accurate patient records within the EMR system
• Document interactions and requests appropriately
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements
• Support office staff with administrative duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting
• Previous appointment scheduling experience
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable handling a high volume of phone calls
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong computer skills and typing proficiency
• High school diploma or GED
• Preferred qualifications include EPIC experience, EMR/EHR experience, medical terminology knowledge, medical call center experience, patient registration experience, insurance verification experience, and pharmacy technician experience
