About the role

The Medical Records Coordinator II supports the clinic Medical Records function and is responsible for ensuring all clerical duties are accurately performed. Duties include pulling medical records for other departments and individuals as requested, electronically filing medical records, preparing copies of medical records as requested, scanning medical records, reviewing medical records for completeness, facilitating the obtaining of necessary signatures from physicians and practitioners to complete the medical record, filing correspondence and other documents in medical records accurately, and assisting in mailing correspondence from the business office.

Responsibilities

  • Pull medical records for other departments and/or individuals as requested
  • Electronically file medical records
  • Prepare copies of medical records as requested
  • Scan medical records, ensure all requests for copies of medical records are authorized and approved for issuance
  • Review the medical record for completeness
  • Facilitate obtaining necessary signatures from physicians and practitioners to complete the medical record
  • Filer correspondence and other documents in medical records accurately
  • Aid in mailing correspondence from the business office
  • Work closely with other departments as needed to ensure the patient's chart and information is complete to receive treatment

Requirements

This position requires excellent customer service skills and communication skills. It also requires the ability to work under stress and in situations that demand patience and tact while providing impeccable service. This position will work closely with other departments as needed to ensure the patient’s chart and information is complete to receive treatment.

Qualifications and Preferred Experience

  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the United States
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to relate and work effectively with others
  • Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated computer skills in utilizing Microsoft Office, integrated database, and other functions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
  • Two years clerical experience required
  • One year medical records experience required
  • RHIT Certification preferred
