MEDICAL RECORD LIBRARIAN III - CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES - OAHU
About the role
This position involves independently performing various medical record activities, directing a medical record department, and other related duties.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes patient records for internal consistency and ensures necessary actions by hospital personnel.
- Checks for completeness and accuracy of forms and factual data.
- Directs operations of a medical record department.
- Analyzes medical data from clinical records.
- Compiles statistical reports.
- Deals tactfully and effectively with others.
- Prepares reports.
Requirements
- Legal Authorization To Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in medical record science or health information administration from a CAHIIM-accredited college or university, or a Certificate in medical record science or health information administration from an approved school, plus one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university, including 12 hours in biological sciences and 6 hours in mathematics.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- One-year training and internship program for health information administrators from an approved school, plus a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- A Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Certificate awarded after qualifying on the national registration examination given by AHIMA.
- Experience: At least one year of progressively responsible professional medical record library work experience, or relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
