Medical Receptionist - Primary Care
Park Nicollet is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our Primary Care Frontline team, contributing to the care and experience of our patients and their families.
About the role
This position has two primary areas of responsibility:
- Call Center: Rapidly and accurately answer and respond to incoming telephone calls from patients and/or employer groups, meeting department-specific agent expectations and following defined guidelines and processes.
- Front Desk: Greet patients, collect co-pays, schedule follow-up appointments and referrals, and support departmental clerical duties.
In both areas, you will provide quality service through timely and courteous assistance, maintain patient confidentiality, and deliver excellent customer service. Additional responsibilities include completing work in a timely and professional manner, supporting process improvement and organizational changes, identifying yourself and the department in all phone interactions, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Responsibilities
- Answer and respond to incoming telephone calls from patients and employer groups.
- Greet patients, collect co-pays, and schedule follow-up appointments and referrals.
- Support departmental clerical duties and ensure quality service.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and protect patient rights.
- Provide excellent customer service in all interactions.
- Complete defined work in a timely and professional manner.
- Support ongoing process improvement and organizational changes.
- Identify yourself and the department in all phone interactions.
- Accept additional related tasks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Requirements
- 6 months of related experience.
- Accurate computer/keyboarding skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of age-related growth and development principles to ensure appropriate service and patient safety.
- Proficiency in operating telephone and headsets, PC, printer, photocopier, and fax machine.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Human relations sensitivity and customer service skills.
- Listening and telephone etiquette skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
- Comfort in asking patients for co-pays and race collection.
- Ability to promote and maintain good patient relations and confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and structured environment.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Schedule
Monday – Friday day shift with occasional Saturdays.
