Medical Receptionist - Diabetes
About the Role
This position supports both call center and front desk responsibilities within our Diabetes team.
- Call Center: Handle incoming calls with a minimum 93% availability during scheduled hours. Meet department-specific agent expectations and follow defined guidelines and processes.
- Front Desk: Greet patients, collect co-pays, schedule follow-up appointments and referrals, and support departmental clerical duties.
Both areas ensure quality service through timely and courteous assistance and provide support to patients requesting care.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:15 PM.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming calls efficiently and professionally in a call center environment.
- Greet patients and provide courteous assistance at the front desk.
- Collect co-pays and schedule follow-up appointments and referrals.
- Support departmental clerical duties and maintain accurate records.
- Operate office equipment including telephones, headsets, PCs, printers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Promote and maintain good patient relations and confidentiality.
Requirements
- 6 months of related experience (education, experience, or equivalent combination).
- Accurate computer and keyboarding skills.
- Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles to ensure patient safety.
- Proficiency in operating telephone and headsets, PCs, printers, copiers, and fax machines.
- Ability to sit and key for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some medical background.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Human relations sensitivity and customer service skills.
- Listening and telephone etiquette skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Comfort in asking patients for co-pays and race collection.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and structured environment.
