About the role

Tidewater Physicians for Women is a division of Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care with offices in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia. We offer comprehensive care for women of all ages, from young teens to women past menopause, with a team of experienced and qualified physicians, nurse practitioners, and counselors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Reviews Athena task bucket.
  • Faxes patient documents to Athena and verifies forms have been downloaded to patient’s chart.
  • Maintains work area to ensure a healthy, organized work environment.
  • Monitor and respond to voicemails.
  • Monitor and respond to patient cases.
  • Validates patient demographics at the time of check-in.
  • Collections co-payments and other applicable payments before appointments.
  • Participates in the insurance verification process and assists with billing as needed.
  • Maintain reception area and lobby area in a neat, orderly, and clean condition at all times.
  • Interacts with patients and visitors in a positive, pleasant, and professional manner.
  • Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, and directs to appropriate person and/or departments.
  • Obtains necessary signatures and forms based on appointment type.
  • Schedules follow-up visits for patients.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience using Athena EMR.
  • Experience working in an OB/GYN medical practice.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and fellow co-workers.
  • Demonstrates flexibility as a team member.
  • Organized and able to manage time effectively.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
