About the role
Southeast Orthopedic Specialists is a regional leader in orthopedic medicine, dedicated to expanding access to five-star orthopedic care. We are seeking a Medical Office Scheduler to support our growing team at our Corporate Headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Schedule clinic appointments (consultations, follow-ups) using CPS/GE Centricity and the Scheduling Assistant tool.
- Collect and enter patient demographic, insurance, and medical information into CPS.
- Obtain patient demographic information and verify insurance eligibility to ensure accurate claims processing.
- Use templates, scheduling tools, and referral systems to schedule appointments.
- Confirm patient insurance eligibility at the time of scheduling.
- Process referrals through the referral system, contact patients to schedule, and import documents into patient charts.
- Answer and resolve incoming calls and requests promptly and accurately.
- Communicate patient concerns to leadership and triage messages to appropriate staff.
- Facilitate communication with referring providers to prepare patients for appointments.
- Collaborate with the referral coordinator team to enhance patient experience and ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent working knowledge.
- Minimum two years of healthcare experience; prior call center experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills; proficiency with computers and data entry.
- Working knowledge of Centricity Practice Management is a plus.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD and CPT coding.
- Understanding of federal, state, and HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Experience scheduling patients in a clinical or medical practice setting.
