Medical Office Scheduler
Essential Functions
Provide excellent customer service by promptly scheduling patients with the appropriate physician while maintaining a positive demeanor.
Accurately obtain all required demographics and insurance information from the patient.
Utilizes templates, scheduling assistant, protocol, and physician rotation to schedule patient appointments.
Process incoming referrals, contact patients to verify information and schedule appointment, import referrals and/or records into patents chart, send correspondence to referring provider, and send new patient paperwork to patient all in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintains strictest patient confidentiality.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Requires knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, medical terminology, and computer scheduling systems.
Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
Must be able to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
Knowledge
Knowledge of basic computer applications.
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance companies and plans.
Knowledge of scheduling templates.
Knowledge of one or more of the following specialties: Orthopaedics, Neurology, Physical Therapy, or Pain Management.
Skills
Must be able to answer a high volume of telephone calls and utilize a multi-line telephone system.
Basic computer knowledge and skills in operating a computer.
Skill in demonstrating empathy and excellent customer service skills to maintain high patient satisfaction.
Maintaining patient confidentiality.
Organized team player with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.

Ability to communicate with upset and frustrated patients while consistently providing excellent customer service.
