In a clerical role the Medical Office Assistant is the customer service liaison to each of our practices. The Medical Office Assistant greets each patient with courtesy and respect using exceptional communication skills. The purpose of this position is to provide our patients with a seamless experience while following all UHS Policies regarding registration, scheduling, insurance verification and billing. In a clinical role the medical assistant performs patient care tasks under the direction of a licensed nurse and/or nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physician, or other authorized health care provider.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service as the liaison to patients in our practices
  • Greet patients with courtesy and respect using exceptional communication skills
  • Ensure a seamless patient experience by adhering to UHS Policies for registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and billing
  • Perform patient care tasks under the direction of licensed healthcare providers (e.g., nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians)
  • Collect patient information and data
  • Assist physicians with procedures in a medical office or hospital setting

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program or direct patient care experience, including but not limited to:
    • Collection of patient information and data
    • Patient interactions
    • Assisting physicians with procedures in a medical office or hospital setting
  • Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a walk-in, primary care, or specialty care setting (preferred)
  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) (preferred)
  • Strong clerical background with excellent computer skills (preferred)

Pay

$17.19 - $24.42 per hour, depending on experience. Candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500.

Schedule

  • Primary Work Shift: Day
  • Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
