Medical Office Assistant

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.

About the role

Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic, ensuring constant and efficient operations of the physician medical office. Duties include scheduling, patient registration, telephone triage, medical records management, billing, and collections.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the clinic appointment line, including scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical facilities, hospitals, and correction systems.
• Answer multiline telephones and perform telephone triage.
• Process payments from clients for clinical services.
• Complete client registration and documentation.
• Schedule interpreters for clients as needed.
• Retrieve and post billing charges.
• Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation, including patient identification, check-in/out, and charge posting.
• Manage cash handling and patient appointment scheduling.
• Provide customer service, distribute messages, and handle ancillary scheduling and preparation.
• Manage referrals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency, plus one year of patient care experience in a healthcare facility; or
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification; or
• Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training; or
• EMT or Paramedic certification; or
• Bachelor’s degree.

Pay

Hourly pay grade: Health-20.

Schedule

40 scheduled weekly hours.
