Medical Lab Scientist Senior

Responsibilities

• Performs Quality Control (QC) and complex patient testing, develops skills and maintains competency in routine, “specials” and assigned laboratory areas.
• Reports results in accordance with departmental policy, critical values, and incorporates clinical correlation with other known patient parameters.
• Maintains inventory levels, verifies reagent quality, and ensures proper disposal of reagents and supplies.
• Performs advanced equipment trouble-shooting and maintenance, and coordinates product/method/new test development.
• Serves as a team leader, facilitates workflow transitions, and provides training and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: 3 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist required.
• Technologist/Scientist Certifications: ASCP or AMT-MT Licensure required.

Skills

• Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tests.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing to perform quality control checks and troubleshooting of instrumentation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results.
• Skilled in performing a full range of laboratory tests.
• Skilled in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations.
• Skilled in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
• Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff, and the public.

Benefits

The base compensation range for this role is $28.08 - $46.50 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate.
