Medical III Receptionist
About the role
This position involves handling incoming calls in a Call Center environment with a minimum 93% availability during scheduled hours. Employees will also provide front desk support, including greeting patients, collecting co-pays, scheduling follow-up appointments and referrals, and performing departmental clerical duties. The role ensures quality service through timely and courteous assistance to patients.
Schedule
Monday - Friday daytime hours, with some Saturdays. Shifts vary:
- 7:15 AM - 3:45 PM
- 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- 7:45 AM - 4:15 PM
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Saturday shift is 7:45 AM - 12:00 PM, approximately once every 6 weeks, depending on staffing. The team rotates between the Saint Louis Park front desk, Wayzata front desk, and call center.
Responsibilities
- Handle incoming calls while maintaining a minimum 93% availability during scheduled hours.
- Meet department-specific agent expectations regarding performance metrics.
- Follow defined guidelines and processes of the department.
- Greet patients, collect co-pays, and schedule follow-up appointments and referrals.
- Support departmental clerical duties.
- Provide quality service through timely and courteous assistance.
Requirements
- 6 months of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Accurate computer/keyboarding skills.
- Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles to ensure patient safety.
- Proficiency in operating telephone and headsets, PC, printer, photocopier, and fax machine.
- Ability to sit and key for long periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some medical background.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Human relations sensitivity and customer service skills.
- Listening and telephone etiquette skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Comfort in asking patients for co-pays and race collection.
- Ability to promote and maintain good patient relations and confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and structured environment.
