Medical Facility Surveyor (ACC Programs)

About the role

Medical Facility Surveyor – Acute and Continuing Care Programs (ACC) conducts surveys of hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, rural health clinics, critical access hospitals, home health and hospice facilities. Relocation is not required; travel is extensive, with all travel arrangements made to minimize out‑of‑pocket expenses. Full‑time, part‑time and casual (as needed, as available with flexible schedule) positions are available, with opportunities for advancement and/or cross‑training.

Responsibilities

• Complete surveys on facilities such as hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, rural health clinics, critical access hospitals, home health and hospice.
• Conduct surveys in accordance with the State Operations Manual (SOM).
• Prepare deficiency reports in accordance with the Principles of Documentation (PoD) and the HMS Master Writing Guide.
• Communicate survey findings through the approved Quality Assurance process.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in the survey process and communicate them to appropriate leadership staff.
• Accept survey assignments as needed and as directed by CMS and HMS.
• Travel extensively; all travel arrangements are arranged to minimize out‑of‑pocket expenses.

Requirements

• Experience completing CMS surveys is required.
• Required CMS training for provider types.
• Ability to think critically and be competent in decision‑making skills.
• Ability to perform all facility‑required tasks.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
• Current RN license required.
