Health Facilities Surveyor

About the role

The South Dakota Department of Health is hiring a full‑time Health Facilities Surveyor to protect and promote the health and safety of residents and patients in licensed health care facilities across Mitchell, Sioux Falls, and other locations in South Dakota. The Surveyor surveys patient activities, dietary, infection control, resident rights, and the physical environment to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. The role requires travel, provides a daily per diem and the use of a state vehicle while conducting surveys, and offers the flexibility to work from home up to three days per week after a six‑month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Survey patient activities, dietary, infection control, resident rights, and physical environment in licensed health care facilities.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations to protect health and safety hazards.
• Conduct surveys that require travel, receive a daily per diem, and use a state vehicle.
• Work from home up to three days per week after successful completion of a six‑month probationary period.
• Travel to main office locations in Rapid City
