Medical Education Facilitator

About the role

The Medical Education Facilitator for Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and/or Integrated Clinical Methods will support the ongoing delivery of the graduate entry MBChB programme at the Three Counties Medical School (TCMS), University of Worcester. The MBChB curriculum is centered around problem-based learning (PBL), applied learning (e.g., simulation), with an emphasis on early patient contact and clinical placements. The school, founded to widen access to medical careers and retain graduates locally, opened to students in September 2023.

Applicants should have a keen interest in medical education and training, with strong interpersonal skills to support self-directed learners. PBL facilitators will also serve as personal academic tutors for students in their group. In Integrated Clinical Methods, you will develop communication and clinical skills, contributing to the design of cases, support materials, and assessment items for small group work.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate problem-based learning (PBL) sessions for medical students.
• Act as a personal academic tutor for students in your group.
• Develop and refine communication and clinical skills through Integrated Clinical Methods.
• Collaborate with leads for PBL or clinical skills to design and develop cases, support materials, and assessment items.
• Support the delivery of the MBChB curriculum in alignment with the school’s educational goals.

Requirements

• Interest in developing as a medical educator.
• Ability to work flexibly with the team to meet curriculum needs.
• Experience in teaching medical students or similar (ideal but not required).
• Expertise in developing consultation and clinical skills.
• Good interpersonal skills to support self-directed learners.

Benefits

• Salary range of £44,746 to £56,535 per annum (pro rata for part-time: £17,898.40 - £22,614 for 14.8 hours per week).
• Opportunity to progress to £61,759 per annum pro rata, subject to performance and the university reward scheme.
