Language Requirement

Fluency in English and Spanish is required.

Academic Req

  • Required – Bachelor’s degree
  • Certification by the relevant governing authority, Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages certification or other appropriate accrediting body
  • Additional training to meet the special needs of unaccompanied children

Certifications

  • First aid
  • CPR
  • Emergency behavior intervention

Work experience

  • At least three (3) years of teaching and supervising
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience

Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables

  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards
  • Hire, train, supervise and provide performance feedback for program personnel
  • Select, acquire, store, issue and inventory classroom equipment, materials and supplies
  • Complete all notification and reporting requirements
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program and make recommendations for improvement
  • Communicate and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order
  • Communicate and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct

Other Responsibilities

  • Assess, identify, and document the educational needs of all children in care
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational program
  • Implement an educational curriculum that is culturally competent, develops skills in compulsory domains and reflects current educational best practices
  • Teach one or more subject areas at the level assigned to this position
  • Support, encourage, and recruit foster parents

Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current educational best practices for service population
  • Demonstrate the ability to: Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics, Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals, Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment, Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times, Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position, Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures

Pay

Compass Connections is committed to following immunization recommendations produced by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC). As such, our company policy requires that all employees must receive an annual Influenza vaccination or obtain an approved exemption as a medical or religious accommodation. This is a condition of employment, and all new hires will be responsible for providing proof.

Schedule

Travel from one location to another daily.
