Position Title: Medical Director of Women’s Health Primary Care
Location: University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)
Reports to: Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine

Position Summary
The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is seeking an experienced and dedicated physician leader to serve as Medical Director of the Women’s Health Primary Care practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead a well-established ambulatory practice focused on comprehensive women’s health while contributing to UCSF’s mission to improve healthcare quality, access, and equity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based primary care with a focus on adult women’s health in an ambulatory setting.
- Serve as Medical Director for the Women’s Health Primary Care practice, including oversight of approximately 12 physicians within a multidisciplinary team. Lead clinical operations, support provider development, and collaborate on strategic initiatives.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows; contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation.
- Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, clinical workflows, and health outcomes.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine
- Valid California medical license and DEA registration by the start date
- Proven expertise in providing ambulatory internal medicine care, with a strong commitment to clinical excellence
- Prior leadership experience (e.g., Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, Site Director, or similar roles)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in women’s health primary care
- Interest or experience in quality improvement, practice innovation, or clinical operations
- Interest in teaching or academic scholarship

The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) has grown to include about 80 faculty members, 3 fellows, 72 internal medicine residents (including 30 primary care residents), and 140 staff members. DGIM serves a heterogenous population of over 25,000 patients and consistently receives high marks in patient satisfaction.
