Overview

A well-established healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Medical Director of Primary Care to lead its primary care services while providing direct patient care. This physician leadership role is responsible for overseeing provider performance, ensuring high-quality clinical outcomes, managing compliance and risk, and driving continuous improvement across primary care operations. The Medical Director will report directly to executive medical leadership and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and performance management for primary care providers and clinical staff.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and evaluate medical providers.
  • Deliver direct primary care services on a scheduled basis.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety, infection control, and pharmacy initiatives.
  • Monitor provider productivity and clinical outcomes.
  • Support medical operations through strategic planning and operational oversight.
  • Provide clinical guidance to physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in organizational leadership meetings and medical committees.
  • Perform additional leadership and clinical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
  • Active, unrestricted Texas Medical License (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Minimum 9 years of progressive primary care clinical experience.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience overseeing medical operations or provider teams.
  • Strong knowledge of quality improvement, provider management, compliance, and healthcare regulations.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care, behavioral health integration, cognitive behavioral therapies, or motivational interviewing is preferred.

  • Active Texas Medical License.

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and drug screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily sedentary work with occasional walking and standing.
  • Ability to perform routine clinical duties in a healthcare setting.

Pay

$184,271 annually (approximately $88.59/hour).
