Medical Director, General Surgery - Remote

For our client, we are seeking a Medical Director, General Surgery - Remote to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space. This remote medical leadership role is focused on clinical oversight within surgical services, with an emphasis on claims review, medical necessity, and coding accuracy. The position will partner with providers, internal review staff, and compliance stakeholders to ensure consistent, evidence-based decisions. It is well suited for a board-certified surgeon who can balance clinical judgment with regulatory rigor in a highly structured healthcare environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $248,500 – $373,000 annually Responsibilities Review surgical and professional claims for correct coding using clinical records Participate in training related to regulatory compliance and department-specific requirements Discuss cases and coding situations with treating providers over the phone Engage in clinical conferences and performance reviews regularly Compose clinical summaries and rationales for medical necessity as needed Ensure compliance with standards set by regulatory agencies such as CMS and NCQA Provide clinical support for staff conducting initial claims reviews Qualifications MD or DO with a current, active, and unrestricted medical license Current board certification in General Surgery through ABMS or AOA 5+ years of clinical experience after residency Familiarity with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Benefits Comprehensive benefits package including health and wellness options Incentive and recognition programs to acknowledge performance Equity stock purchase option allowing employees to buy shares 401(k) contribution plan to support retirement savings Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
