Medical Director, Orthopedic Surgery - Remote

For our client, we are seeking a Medical Director, Orthopedic Surgery - Remote to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space. This role will provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for orthopedic surgery claim reviews, with a focus on coding accuracy, medical necessity, and compliance. You will collaborate with providers, internal review teams, and operational partners to ensure decisions are well-supported, consistent, and aligned with regulatory standards. The position combines hands-on clinical review with communication, documentation, and performance review responsibilities in a remote setting. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $248,500 – $373,000 annually Responsibilities Review surgical and professional claims for correct coding using clinical records Participate in training on URAC, NCQA, and compliance regulations Discuss cases and clinical coding with providers telephonically Engage in clinical conferences and internal performance reviews Compose clinical summaries and rationales for medical necessity decisions as needed Support compliance with regulatory agency standards Provide clinical support for initial review staff Qualifications MD or DO with a current, active, and fully unrestricted medical license Current board certification in Orthopedic Surgery through ABMS or AOA 5+ years of clinical experience post residency Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Benefits Comprehensive benefits package Incentive and recognition programs Equity stock purchase options 401k contribution plans Clear direction for success and development opportunities Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
