Medical Director - Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist - Bennington, VT

About the Role

Dartmouth Health's Department of Psychiatry seeks a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director of a new adolescent inpatient psychiatry program at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. This role includes dedicated time for administrative responsibilities as well as direct clinical care on the unit. Clinically, you will provide state-of-the-art acute psychiatric and substance-related disorder care for adolescents aged 12-17.

The inpatient unit features an experienced team of psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, and medical providers to deliver high-quality care. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a clinical service in psychiatry and be a skilled clinician with a strong interest in working in an inpatient setting.

Opportunities to teach in didactic or other supervisory settings in the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship or psychiatry residency at Dartmouth are available. Academic rank at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership as Medical Director of a new adolescent inpatient psychiatry program.
• Oversee administrative duties related to the program.
• Deliver direct clinical care on the inpatient unit, including acute psychiatric and substance-related disorder treatment for adolescents aged 12-17.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, and medical providers.
• Participate in teaching and supervisory roles within Dartmouth’s child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship or psychiatry residency programs.

Requirements

• Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO).
• Postgraduate training in a residency program.
• Current New Hampshire Medical License.
• Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry (to be obtained within 5 years).
• Active hospital staff membership.
• Board certification (or eligibility) in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry.
• Experience leading a clinical service in psychiatry.
