Medical Assistant II-Riley Pediatric Primary Care-Fishers

About the role

We're looking for a compassionate Medical Assistant who is invested in pediatric care, enjoys working closely with teammates, and is committed to delivering an outstanding patient experience.

Under the supervision of the designated supervisor and assigned physician, you will perform duties associated with direct patient care and clinical direction to provide patient care in accordance with organization standards. This includes ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, assuring smooth patient flow, performing general lab work, instructing patients concerning procedures, treatments, and needs, and ensuring medical orders and referrals are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.

Schedule

Full-time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30/5:00 PM
Optional overtime available on select Saturdays (8:00 AM-12:00 PM)

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs and measurements
• Administer vaccines and support patient care activities
• Manage patient messages, paperwork, and medical records requests
• Provide administrative support and assist fellow Medical Assistants as needed
• Help maintain clinic workflow in a growing, busy practice
• Perform registration and scheduling activities per organizational and departmental procedures
• Maintain EMR files and perform general front office functions as needed
• Perform computerized physician order entry, if directed by assigned physician
• Precept current MA team members or MA Externs as requested by leadership

Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduation from a Medical Assistant program required
• Current certification in medical assisting required from one of the following:
  • America Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Health Career Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding required
• Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use, and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire
• Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures
• Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
• Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care, and Skills Competency checklists
• Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills

Qualifications

• Previous experience preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Positive attitude, initiative, and a passion for pediatric patient care
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and support the team wherever needed
