Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage patient flow to optimize appointment availability
  • Greet, escort, and prepare patients for examinations, including measuring vital signs
  • Auxiliary clinicians with clinical procedures and department-specific tests
  • Update and maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Inform patients about visit status and relevant information
  • Reconcile medications, set up refills, and discontinue inactive prescriptions
  • Order and perform point-of-care waived testing (e.g., strep, urine, glucose)
  • Address minor patient concerns and ensure readiness for exams

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or Medical Assistant Certification
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • 3+ years clinical experience including 1+ as a Medical Assistant
  • Proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and understanding of testing procedures
  • Knowledge of reagent stability and test result factors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or graduate of a medical assistant program
  • ACLS certification may be required depending on specialty
