Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient flow to optimize appointment availability
- Greet, escort, and prepare patients for examinations, including measuring vital signs
- Auxiliary clinicians with clinical procedures and department-specific tests
- Update and maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR)
- Inform patients about visit status and relevant information
- Reconcile medications, set up refills, and discontinue inactive prescriptions
- Order and perform point-of-care waived testing (e.g., strep, urine, glucose)
- Address minor patient concerns and ensure readiness for exams
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or Medical Assistant Certification
- Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- 3+ years clinical experience including 1+ as a Medical Assistant
- Proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and understanding of testing procedures
- Knowledge of reagent stability and test result factors
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or graduate of a medical assistant program
- ACLS certification may be required depending on specialty
