About the Role

The Medical Assistant supports clinicians with routine clinical procedures, patient preparation, and tests in the exam room. They ensure all pre-visit work is completed, lab and test results are available in the electronic medical record (EMR), and assist with patient flow and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient flow and greet patients
  • Measure vital signs and prepare patients for exams
  • Assist with clinical procedures and tests, including waived testing (e.g., strep, urine)
  • Update and verify EMR data, including medications, allergies, and medical history
  • Reconcile medications and manage prescriptions
  • Address minor patient concerns and keep patients informed of visit status

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or Medical Assistant Certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • 3+ years clinical experience, including 1+ years as a Medical Assistant
  • Proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and understanding testing procedures
  • Knowledge of reagent stability and test factors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or Medical Assistant certification program graduate
  • ACLS certification may be required based on specialty
