About the Role
The Medical Assistant supports clinicians with routine clinical procedures, patient preparation, and tests in the exam room. They ensure all pre-visit work is completed, lab and test results are available in the electronic medical record (EMR), and assist with patient flow and communication.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient flow and greet patients
- Measure vital signs and prepare patients for exams
- Assist with clinical procedures and tests, including waived testing (e.g., strep, urine)
- Update and verify EMR data, including medications, allergies, and medical history
- Reconcile medications and manage prescriptions
- Address minor patient concerns and keep patients informed of visit status
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or Medical Assistant Certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- 3+ years clinical experience, including 1+ years as a Medical Assistant
- Proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and understanding testing procedures
- Knowledge of reagent stability and test factors
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or Medical Assistant certification program graduate
- ACLS certification may be required based on specialty
