Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with all patient care
- Measure and record vital signs
- Record patient interview, history and chief complaint
- Provide patient education with regards to office policies, medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets
- Assist the physician with exams and minor office surgery
- Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
- Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and perform other first aid procedures
- Use CPR skills when required
- Maintain supplies, equipment, stocking, and sterilization of instruments
- Practice OSHA safety standards
- Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
- May triage patient phone calls/review prescriptions with patient as directed by physician
- Perform other duties as assigned which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances
- Perform Phlebotomy
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
- Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 5 lbs. and stand a minimum of 1 hour a day
Requirements
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with varying populations
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification required
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician preferred
Pay
Minimum rate of $21.70 hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members.
