About the role
This combined posting is for Medical Assistant and Associate Medical Assistant positions within Providence Medical Group’s Staffing Resource Department (float pool). The float pool serves PMG clinics across the Portland Metro area (Multnomah, Clackamas, Washington, and Yamhill counties), providing patient care in Primary Care, Pediatrics, and Specialty Care settings. Both full‑time and part‑time schedules are offered, with premium float pay and mileage reimbursement when eligible.
Responsibilities
- Perform duties as directed by a licensed practitioner to assist in providing patient care.
- Medical Assistant II: carry out all aspects of the MA I role and be fully competent in the clinical needs/functions for the assigned clinic/location.
- Medical Assistant I: deliver basic patient care through administrative and clinical duties.
- Adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Serve patients in Primary Care, Pediatrics, and Specialty Care clinics within the Portland Metro area.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant II: Graduate of an accredited school with hands‑on clinical training, or graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program, or completed two years of medical training in the U.S. Armed Forces, or minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and medication administration.
- Upon hire: National Provider BLS (American Heart Association).
- Six months healthcare experience; six months Medical Assistant experience.
- Associate Medical Assistant: Same education/training options as above OR upon hire: National Provider BLS (American Heart Association) and medical assisting experience in a clinic setting (0‑6 months).
Qualifications
- Preferred for Medical Assistant II: National Medical Assistant Certification upon hire.
- Preferred for Associate Medical Assistant: 6 months prior experience providing high‑level customer service in a fast‑paced environment; 6 months previous experience in a healthcare setting working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Pay
- Medical Assistant II: Salary range $23.27 – $35.60 per hour.
- Associate Medical Assistant: Salary range $21.33 – $31.98 per hour.
- Premium Float pay included; mileage reimbursement if eligible.
- Additional compensation may be available (shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, bonuses).
