This position is located at Corcoran State Prison in Corcoran, Kings County. Main communication for this position will be through email.

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 20 to have their base salary reduced by 3% and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis. This is a limited-term position which may be extended or become permanent.

About the Role

Under the administrative supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III and the clinical supervision of a Physician and Surgeon, the Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to primary care providers in various health care settings. The MA performs patient-oriented procedures under clinical direction, supports the Primary Care Team (PCT) for daily clinic operations, communicates effectively with patients and health care team members, and performs administrative duties. The role involves addressing ongoing patient needs, collaborating with physicians and other providers, and promoting efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient-oriented procedures under the clinical direction of a provider or valid authorization by a provider’s order.
  • Provide support to the Primary Care Team (PCT) for daily clinic operations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and members of the PCT and other health care team members.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.
  • Address the ongoing needs of patients in collaboration with physicians and other health care providers.
  • Promote the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant. Approved agencies include:
